Repo Cop support
Questions, bug reports, and feedback go directly to Jason Lotito at jasonlotito@gmail.com.
Include your macOS version, Repo Cop version, what you expected, and what happened. Screenshots help; remove private paths or account details you don't want to share. Never send tokens, passwords, or private source code.
Beta availability
Repo Cop is being prepared for TestFlight and the Mac App Store. A public beta download is not available yet. This page will link to the public beta when it is ready.
Choose a folder to watch
Use Add Folder and select the parent folder containing your projects. Repo Cop only monitors folders you deliberately choose. If access is lost after moving a folder or reconnecting a drive, choose that folder again using the access message in the app.
Find a project
Project Patrol shows projects that need attention. Select a watched folder in the sidebar to see its detected, non-ignored projects and current Git states. Ignored Folders lets you restore projects you previously ignored.
A folder must contain enough source files or a recognized project marker to be detected. A loose source file is not a project. You can adjust detection limits in General Settings.
What “Remote configured” means
The repository has a commit and a configured remote. This local check does not establish that every change is committed or uploaded. Repo Cop does not automatically push later changes or replace a complete Git client.
Commit and publish
Start Tracking initializes Git without staging or uploading files. Create First Commit lets you review the author identity and confirm staging and committing. Review secrets and add a .gitignore before committing.
Connect GitHub when you want to publish. Review the account, owner, repository name, and private visibility before confirming. Your existing GitHub connection can suggest commit details, and Repo Cop remembers the identity you confirm.
When an upload fails
If Repo Cop created the private repository but could not finish uploading, use Retry Upload to send the same confirmed commit. Do not create a second repository. If the branch, commit, or account changed, review the existing destination and finish in your Git client.
Organization policies, branch rules, large files, or workflow permissions can prevent publishing. Repo Cop currently supports GitHub.com publishing. Other Git hosts and GitHub Enterprise publishing are not yet supported.
Sign-in, notifications, and local data
General Settings contains GitHub sign-out, notification preferences, and launch-at-login controls. macOS System Settings also controls notification and login permissions. Sign Out removes this Mac's saved GitHub connection; use Manage GitHub authorizations to revoke access on GitHub.
Read the privacy policy for local storage, GitHub sharing, and deletion choices. Contact support before manually deleting application data if you want to keep your projects and Git history intact.
